[Ninja Character Background]
A 16-year-old Chunin from the Hidden Leaf Village.
She is a kunoichi with an undying love for cute clothes.
Believe it or not, every outfit she wears is handmade from scratch, woven using silk threads produced by her own moths.
An insect-user type shinobi who utilizes silk moths as weapons in battle. She is the only daughter of the head of the Mayukura clan.
Although she would prefer spending her days making clothes with her beloved moth companions, as the heir to the Mayukura clan, she is unable to escape life as a shinobi. She feels a kinship with the silk moths, who cannot fly even after leaving the cocoon and becoming adults.

[Jutsu] Saliva Cocoon
A technique that encases enemies in a cocoon of silk spun by her moth companions. By channeling chakra through the threads, she is able to place a genjutsu on anyone caught within.

Ikemoto's Comments
First of all, the design is outstanding. It matches well with a clan that utilizes moths as weapons to fight. The clothes are stylish, cute, and cool, and what's more, are all handmade with the moth's silk. Also, despite wanting to make a living in fashion with her moth companions, she is forced to fight as the heir to her clan. The backstory really creates the foundation of the character. No notes.

[Ninja Character Background]
Having a "big sister" personality, she is often relied on by those around her.
Her interests include visiting restaurants that offer incredibly spicy food and people watching.
She is considering how her jutsu can be of use to the village's security measures.
[Jutsu] Time Sealing Barrier
Nullifies jutsu that allow you to travel through time and space within its area of effect. Jutsu such as space-time ninjutsu, Claw Marks, and Daikokuten are rendered ineffective, preventing anything from entering or exiting the affected area.

Ikemoto's Comments
It's wonderful. The necklace with the miniature headband and half-gloves emphasize her individuality, while the high-waisted, wide-legged pants complete her overall silhouette. It is the perfect balance of black and white. Though it appears simple, it's actually quite a sophisticated design where clever techniques shine through in various places. The character setting is also solid, and honestly, I'd like to see her appear in the main story.
Also, this is actually the second time this artist has been recognized as a Boruto Star!
They are most certainly someone to be keeping an eye on in the future.

[Ninja Character Background]
A shinobi from the Hidden Stone. Her chakra is accumulated and stored in the form of gems in her purse.

[Ninjutsu] Magical Jewelry
Gems made from Jewel's chakra can do the following:
・Ruby
→ Absorbs enemy chakra
・Topaz
→ Emits a strong light when hit, causing the enemy to lose control of their vision
・Sapphire
→ Robs the enemy of their memories, sealing them away
・Diamond
→ See through the enemy's jutsu and into their heart

Ikemoto's Comments
The idea of creating gems out of chakra... Do they disappear after a certain amount of time, or will they last forever? If it's the latter, I can't help but worry that the market price of gems is in serious trouble... Also, could you make gems that absorb other people's chakra? That would mean you could produce an infinite amount of them through alchemy... I'm very much concerned.

[Ninja Character Background]
A shinobi from the Village Hidden in the Rain. He wears sonic wave hearing devices and water gloves.
・Sonic Wave Hearing Devices
Utilizes the conductivity of air to transmit electronic waves directly to the enemy's brain, allowing the user to place them in a genjutsu.
・Water Gloves
Gloves that allow the user to make it rain anywhere. The user is able to move faster than normal in heavy rain. The gloves also possess the ability to manipulate lightning and wind chakra natures.


[Ninjutsu] Eyes of Emptiness
Not a ninjutsu, but rather a special ocular ability possessed by Kurogane.
He is able to travel to different dimensions through a black abyss, and can even visit other realities and places.

Ikemoto's Comments
He gives off an ominous vibe that fits well within the world of Boruto. His eyes are completely black, which only adds to that aura. Also, the top of his hood is pointed, which is oddly cute. The contrast is kind of charming.

[Ninjutsu]
・String Phone Jutsu
A chakra thread is attached to an object at one end and pulled taut. By listening to the other end, Metra can see mental images of the thoughts imprinted upon the object.
・Silent Clipping
The thread can be extended when using chakra. If made into a large ring and thrown, it will block all sound and communication from anything caught in its circumference. Cloth made from this thread also has soundproofing, which is useful in both everyday life and on the battlefield.
・Hearing
By shortening the thread and concealing it in something such as the enemy's hair, you are able to eavesdrop on whatever you might hear.

Ikemoto's Comments
They have a somewhat androgynous look, but I think they may be female? The gloves with heart-shaped cutouts in the palms and the asymmetrical blouse silhouette get high marks for style. It is a simple yet detailed design. Still, just like Boruto and the others, today's ninja have absolutely zero desire to stay hidden.

[Ninja Character Background]
The strongest ninja grandpa. He dotes on his four-year-old granddaughter, who he'd go through fire and water for. He'll even don a skirt without a moment's hesitation to make her happy. Although his age is unknown, he still has a full head of gray hair.

[Ninjutsu] Kyun-Kyun Beam
When hit by the beam, the enemy loses their will to fight and instead becomes devoted to his granddaughter. The ninjutsu is called "Kyun-Kyun Beam" but since he's a ninja there are probably no beams involved.
But to Grandpa Cure, whatever his granddaughter says goes. If she says it's a beam then it's a beam even if it's not a beam, so let's just leave it as a beam. That's how it works. Probably.

Ikemoto's Comments
This time out of all the entries, this character left the biggest and most memorable impression on me. He was once known as the strongest ninja, but his love for and desire to please his four-year-old granddaughter has now turned him into this. I bet any enemy that sees him pull out a strong move while looking like this would be shocked. I am both impressed and frightened by the granddaughter's creativity in having the name written "愛" or "love" but read as "cure".

[Ninja Character Background]
A 14-year-old ninja strategist from the Village Hidden in the Sand. Her clan is fairly new, so Mishian spends her time testing and researching her Kekkei Genkai. She loves exploring and discovering new places. Although Mishian admires the Kazekage, she has no desire to take the position herself. Rather, she dreams of becoming someone who protects them.
[Ninjutsu]
・Inheritor of the Star
By looking into the eyes of her opponent, she can communicate as well as read their thoughts to know what they are planning.
・Tiger Sand
Uses sand to immobilize opponents, shifting battles in her favor. However, the jutsu can only be used at close range.

Ikemoto's Comments
The character has a very unique look and expression that are hard to describe. Her name gives you a sense that her roots are from a foreign land, which is exciting from the standpoint of expanding on Boruto's worldbuilding. Her abilities are also useful as well as powerful. If she were to become friends with Boruto and the others, it would be a great opportunity for them to share knowledge and learn about each other's culture.

[Ninja Character Background]
Straightforward and cool, with a strong sense of justice.

Ikemoto's Comments
The character clearly has a presence. The drawing doesn't feel like it was created, but rather born of its own volition. The way the facial expression and posture is illustrated tests your imagination, and gives you a sense that this is no ordinary character. It takes a special artist to bring this kind of character to life.

[Ninja Character Background]
Although electronic communication exists in the modern ninja world, top-secret information is still best delivered by hand. Hakobi works as a courier, accepting requests from countries and villages to deliver things such as secret documents and scientific ninja tool prototypes, in addition to ordinary letters and parcels.

He works together with a summoned bird named Teppo. Hakobi himself has a terrible sense of direction, so Teppo calculates the best route to their destination, providing support from the air.

[Ninjutsu] Idaten
This jutsu works by channeling chakra into the soles of the feet while also achieving a different chakra nature in each foot. Lighting Style: Thunderclap is used to generate electricity on the sole of the foot striking the ground, allowing the user to accelerate faster. The foot that's raised uses Wind Style: Gale to propel the user forward with wind. By switching these two jutsu between feet while running, moving at incredible speeds is possible.


Ikemoto's Comments
Ninja like Hakobi may be made even more valuable by the technological advances that have taken place since the Naruto series. I like the realism and believability of his character background.

[Ninja Character Background]
A chef who became a ninja in order to experience a wider variety of flavors. She is passionate about cooking, especially when it comes to crafting dashi soup stock. She secures her pan and kitchen knife to the belt at her hips, and has various seasonings strapped to her thigh. She is meticulous about maintaining her tools and stock so she can be ready to cook no matter where she is.

[Ninjutsu] Fire Style: Gochisomen
Fine flames like one would see on a gas burner come out from the fingertips and can be used for slashing or stabbing attacks. Things cut with the flames are lightly seared, making this an incredibly useful jutsu for cooking. Nikogori loves using it to add a smoky, savory touch to her ingredients.

Ikemoto's Comments
I like how one look at the design can convey what kind of character this is. Her movements when doing things like using the seasoning on her thigh would make for dynamic and exciting manga panels. Her jutsu being useful for both cooking and fighting feels well-balanced.

[Ninja Character Background]
He likes combining traditional clothing from the Hidden Sand with more modern fashion styles. His swords can also function as boomerangs, making them suitable for both close- and long-range combat.

[Ninjutsu] God of Drought
Absorbs all water from anything touched by the palms of his hands. More than five minutes of contact is fatal, so he always keeps his hands wrapped.

Ikemoto's Comments
I like how the exoticness of his appearance would make him feel unique in the world of Boruto. I wonder if absorbing water from people even without meaning to has been a source of pain for him. The fact that he protects others by wrapping his hands conveys how kind of a person he is.

[Ninja Character Background]
A white cat once kept by a shrine maiden of Hakumai Shrine. One day, she accidentally swallowed a prototype "animal humanization" formula left by the roadside, which had been created for fun by a bored scientist. While living in human society, she became fascinated by shinobi and stole a headband, which she now wears as a collar.

[Ninjutsu] Fire Style: Oblative Flame Dance
A jutsu that channels fire through dance-like movements. Utilized for taijutsu.

Ikemoto's Comments
At first glance she looks human, but is actually a cat. She seems to have transformed after accidentally ingesting a mysterious formula created by some scientist. I'm very intrigued as to what her owner's reaction was upon first witnessing this new form. The cat designs on the sleeves and skirt are very cute. Did the owner, having accepted the reality of Miko's new form, provide the outfit, or did Miko pick it out herself? I have so many questions I want to ask!

[Ninja Character Background]
For generations, the Tanukiyama clan has specialized in the art of transformation, and they are said to be second to none.

[Ninjutsu] Transformation Jutsu
Bakero has struggled with social interactions since he was young, but when using the transformation jutsu he is able to become someone else to the point where people can't pick up on his usual awkwardness at all. He is usually quite reserved and quiet.

Ikemoto's Comments
His signature ninjutsu being a ninja classic is an unexpected twist for an original character. And the surprises don't stop there; his entire background is centered around the concept of "transformation", including using tanuki as a motif. The character's personality is also carefully crafted to fit that theme. Very well done.

[Ninja Character Background]
An artistic ninja who has less chakra than most but extraordinary imagination and focus. He uses these strengths to adapt to changing situations and bring new ideas to the battlefield. As his name suggests, he usually creates replicas.

[Ninjutsu] Copy: Mona Lisa / Copy: The Scream / Copy: The Last Supper
The names of his jutsu start with "Copy" followed by a famous work of art. Due to his low chakra, he is unable to use this jutsu more than twice a day.
These Copy jutsu work by using genjutsu to place the target in the world of the art piece, with the quality of the genjutsu dependent on the quality of Replica's drawing.

Ikemoto's Comments
Since this character uses art created by ninjutsu to trap opponents in a genjutsu, I wonder if he often shows opponents nightmarish scenes. I feel like he could trap people in pretty terrifying places depending on the painting.
If he teamed up with Inojin I think the two of them together would come up with some mind-blowing jutsu.

Please draw your original ninja in black-and-white on the back of a postcard, along with the names of your character and their jutsu. On the front please write your postal code, address, name (please include your real name as well if using a pen name), age, phone number, and the name you'd like written on the prize art board if you win.

2. Entering Online
Fill out the required fields on the submission form, and attach a full-body illustration of your original ninja. Please make sure to include the names of your character and their jutsu when sending.

Results
Results are scheduled to be published in the series' sixth volume and announced on the NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE in early October.

Designs submitted to the Boruto Star Certification contest must be entirely your own. If you win but it is discovered you used someone else's design, you will be disqualified. Mailed entries will not be returned, and will be disposed of after a certain period of time. If you want to keep your entry, please make a copy before mailing it. Rights to entries will be retained by the creators, but entries may be published in releases/announcements regarding this contest, Boruto manga volumes, the V Jump magazine, the official V Jump and Boruto X accounts, and official Shueisha sites such as V JUMP WEB and the NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE.
