Kimimaro realizes that close combat is impossible against Gaara’s wall of sand, so he moves further away for a long-distance attack. But Gaara is unfazed by Kimimaro’s ability to manipulate his bones and shoot them out of his body, and continues to use his sand to protect himself as well as attack.
